Is 12th Fail a hit or flop? Check Box Office Collection

Hit or Flop?

The mega blockbuster Jawan movie released in September is still creating havoc at the box office and affecting the business of other movies but I think the end is near as the 12th fail released on 27 October 2023 is receiving lots of praise from all critics and audiences alike.

But Kangana Ranaut starrer Tejas is also released on the same date so it will be an interesting battle and definitely will impact its box office business.

Last week’s releases ‘Ganapath Part 1’ and ‘Yaariyan 2,’ both failed at the box office due to weak repeated storylines and poor direction.

12th fail is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and it is based on the novel of the same name by Anurag Pathak. The film stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role who plays real-life IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma who failed in all subjects except Hindi in class 12th. After performing so poorly, he still gets a rank of 121 in India’s prestigious exam of UPSC.

“12th Fail” box office collection

Made on a budget of Rs 20-30 crore ( which includes scripting, casting, filming, sets, editing, sound, and promotional campaigns) chances are high that it will not recover its cost, but also will make a profit of minimum 10-15 crores.

The film collection seem to be in the range of Rs 1.5- 2 Crore, which is good considering the overall promotion and publicity the makers have done.

Future prospectus of “12th Fail”

if we look at the upcoming movies releasing next week like Aankh Micholi, Hukus Bukus, and Three Of Us all are very small-budget movies so no big-budget movie is coming till Diwali on which Tiger 3 is releasing, this will definitely help 12th fail to recover its costs and become a profitable venture.

Will Tejas affect the 12th Fail business?

The same release date of the aviation action movie Tejas will present some direct competition for the inspirational drama 12th Fail at the box office both Indian films belong to different genres but both are inspirational for viewers. Tejas boasts higher production values as a patriotic military story led by star Kangana Ranaut. However, the 12th Fail budget is significantly smaller compared to Tejas. Tejas may attract more mass audiences initially but 12th Fail will find legs over time through word of mouth. But we have seen in the past that if both movies are good, they might coexist without significantly impacting each other’s business.

Vikrant Massey’s Performance in 12th Fail

In 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey brings his trademark earnestness and subtlety to the lead role of Manoj Kumar Sharma. His expressions effectively convey the character’s struggle beautifully. Vikrant Massey is a versatile actor who proved his acting prowess again in 12th fail. His ability to delve deep into the character of Manoj Kaumar Sharma brings life to it and becomes a favorite among both critics and audiences. Next we will see Vikrant Massey in Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba coming in the year 2024.

Is 12th Fail a hit or flop?

It will be too early to comment on its box office performance or reception as 12th fail is released just 2 days back. Still, it opened to decent box office numbers, and it will definitely be able to recover costs but did not emerge as a major commercial success. However, 12th Fail found an audience over its run, especially among families and young viewers that connected with its inspirational story. Though not a huge money spinner, the movie garnered moderately positive reviews with praise for Vikrant Massey’s endearing performance. While it didn’t set the box office ablaze, the film will find a niche as a feel-good drama that resonated with students and parents. It is already getting rave reviews on IMDB and rated 9.1/10 based on more than 200 votes.
